Olympic worsening China's human rights. The BBC reporters shout loudly. Have BBC reporters just arrived in Beijing from the moon? Otherwise, they should know human rights problems exit when the human rights exit. If there is a problem, there will be a solution. This is how human society develops.
How excited the Chinese people are! Though they do not have a solution ready for the problem, they finally have their huam right and are able to talk about human rights problems.
Look back on the tearful and painful Chinese history around 1840. Where was the human right in China? Chinese were abused by the Western countries. So-called Christian missionary along with ships and ships of opium arrived in China, brain washed the Chinese and destroyed the public health. Shortly after, there was the First Opium War. The war ended with the signing of the unequal treaty – Treaty of Nanjing. China had to give up HongKong for Britain. Apparently, the righteousness did not win this war. Since then, China was forced to sign more and more unequal treaties with the Western counties. China was invaded by Eight-Nation Alliance, consisting of British, Japanese, Russian, Italian, German, French, US and Austrian troops. The Chinese lost China! The Chinese lost their human rights!
Watch out! Hungry dogs always bark terribly loud. They shout loudly for something!

Hi, Aw
Recently, China cuccessfully held the Olympic Games, and presented a mordern, prosperous China to the world. Every Chinese are proud of that because holding the Olympic Games is the dream for Chinese for 100 years, because Chinese finally can speck out for their own right.
You are right, in the Chinese history, the first Opium War led to the unequal treaty - Treaty of Nanjing, Chinese lost it's territory by force. Scince then, foreigh countries occupied several districts in many Chinese cities and prohibited Chinese people entered those areas. Imagine, such districts were in China's territory! Where is the rights for Chinese?!
So, countries who always blame China's Human rights, please think about that!
Thank you Grace. Yes, Chinese are proud. But shouln't the world be proud of China, too. Isn't China part of the world. Any country suffers, the whole world should feel. Any country achieve a goal or makes any progress, the world should feel happy. Simple as it is!
Hi Aw.after reading your comment on Human rights i think i have to agree with you.Alhtough i dont know much about chinese history but i Know that the country has suffered alot but now china has really developed and what they did for Olympics Games were amazing.I think no 1 would have though that china would come with such good ideas..I think china should have its own rights becuase its still a country and if the chinese people cant stand up for thier rights then tht will be a very sad story..and yes i agree with grace many countries are blaming for China;s human riights..so I think people should support the country whether its something good or bad.
It is regrettable that China needed to host the Olympics first to be able to have their Human Rights issues addressed, isn't it? It should've just have happened without the need of a major world event. I haven't anything more about it on the news, but has the olympics had a positive effect in China?
Hi Clint,
I understand this is not a familiar topic for you because NZ is far away from China. But I do agree with one your points. If there is human rights problem in China, it should have been addressed without the need of a major world event. Why people raised their voice on China’s human rights problem just before Beijing Olympics? They were absolutely violent during torch rally. Apparently, some people tried to use human rights problem in China as an excuse to stop China hosting Beijing Olympics. They are persuading the world to hate China.
Of course people can choose to hate China if they wish. However, Chinese, one quarter of the world population will never hate their country. Beijing Olympics is an assured and confident statement from Chinese to the world. Chinese loves China!
Personally, I lived in China for over 30 years and never experienced any human rights problem there. I love my country, respect the authority and obey the law of the land, although my country was too poor to be able to offer me much benefit (e.g. unemployment benefit, etc). In fact, I was well looked after there. I received 9 years free and compulsory primary and junior high school education. After successful passed university entry exams, I received further free teacher’s training education from teacher’s college. I was trained to possess a skill to make a living and trained to live on what I have.
In contrast with Chinese government, NZ government offers lots of collective benefit to its people, esp. cash support. But it has yet to figure out an effective way to educate its people.
It doesn’t matter how much people hate China. Indeed, Chinese are not easy to be persuaded. Thank to the high school curriculum in China. Every Chinese student must learn three years Chinese history and two years world history in high school. “Chinese have been brain washed”, so-called human rights protectors might argue. But don’t the Americans required to study American history? Chinese definitely has their view on the world. And the view has been continually developing. How much people from the rest of world know about China might not be equal to Chinese knowing the world.
Hi,
China's Human rights is a problem frequently blamed by the westerners, it's a big issue.
However, I do think it's an issue of Chinese, non of other's business.
Countries are differ just like every family has their different living styles. How can some people keep blaming others living styles?
